Remember when you were a child and a picture in a book could take your breath away? We think that those who illustrate stories for the young have a gift of magic, and that enchantment needn't diminish just because we grow up.

Elizabeth Stone Gallery makes it possible for you to collect the art work of some of the world’s finest children’s book illustrators. Whether you're young or young at heart, there's a special picture here for you.

Beach Boy by Wendell MinorAcclaimed artist Wendell Minor has illustrated and/or written more than 35 picture books for children. His bold, detailed watercolors celebrate the American Heartland, the mystery and beauty of animals, and humanity’s enigmatic relationship with the natural world. Although he has illustrated over 2000 covers for adult books, Wendell feels closest to his children’s book illustration. He hopes his work inspires children to explore the outdoors and develop love and respect for nature.

As a child, Elisa Kleven created a magical world in her closet, full of handmade toys and dollhouse treasures crafted from everyday things. In her children’s books, she continues to use every possible medium--paint, crayons, pastels, markers, colored pencils, and lots of collage--to create extraordinary people and places. Like herself, the characters in her stories find ways to build something magical from the mundane. Her books share the power of imagination and creativity with everyone.
